Calvin Hedge and the Iron Golem is the story of a poor inventor's son. With his mother sick and his father away to war, Calvin takes on the job of crew mechanic for Professor Moldenkamp as he searches for the lost city of Atlantis. The ragtag crew is headed by the mysterious Bastion Kane. Calvin's struggles only continue as Elise Metiphone, the expedition's financier gets off on the wrong foot with Calvin.
